trailing heraclitus

The other day it came to me that maybe I needed a cosmology.

My dictionary defines COSMOLOGY as "The study of the physical universe considered as a totality of phenomena in time and space."

Hmm.

Then, later:
"The astrophysical study of the history, structure, and constituent dynamics of the universe." "A specific theory or model of this structure and these dynamics."

Or maybe what I want is a METAPHYSICS.
"The branch of philosophy that examines the nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact and value." "A priori speculation upon questions that are unanswerable to scientific observation, analysis, or experiment." "Excessively subtle or recondite reasoning."

Nice. Especially the part about excessively subtle reasoning.

Or maybe what I want isn’t a cosmology or a metaphysics. Maybe what I really want is just a theory of why we’re here. Kind of a tall order, at first glance, but I guess it's something that's intrigued a lot of people over the years.

And what else have I got to do?
