bbc news?

I just got back from a trip to Great Britain, and on the last night there I turned on the TV for the first time and got the news that Israel was bombing parts of Lebanon... from the BBC, a station I never watch back home.

Holy Moly.

I think it was a news show, because it has images of shrapnel in the streets, but what it mainly seemed to feature was a female... anchor? Someone told me the English call their anchors "Newsreaders" but this gal was anything but a newsreader.

How to describe her. Imagine a blond woman in her 30's wearing a fire engine red dress. She's at a sleek black anchor desk that has the look of something you'd find in a classy bar, and over her right shoulder is a TV monitor with a closeup of some Israeli official in Tel Aviv.

Now imagine that the woman is hunched forward with the tops of her hands with their bright red fingernails on the surface of the sleek black bar, her head down, her straight blond hair hanging over so you can't see her face, and then she lurches upright, the blond hair whips dramatically back revealing every chiseled curve of her jaw, and she says something like, "But surely this opening of a second front shows an utter contempt for European sentiment and an imbecilic disregard for the mess you and the Americans have made in that part of the world??!!"

Israeli guy: "They're shooting rockets at us."

Woman in Red, from her crouched no-can-see-face position: "Rockets they can't even aim, Mr. Deputy. Rockets they can't even aim."

Oh. My. God.
